About 3.6 million contactless payments made at Hungarian festivals in 2015

The number of contactless payments increased by 93% at VOLT, Balaton Sound and Sziget Festivals in 2015

On eof them is using the closed loop dedicated Festipay cards and the other the contactless credit and debit cards.

 

Statistics

As regards to Sziget, the biggest music festival in Hungary, more than 2,4 million  contactless transactions occured this year. With 170 000 transactions the number of contactless credit and debit cards transactions almost doubled in 2015 compared to 2014. Festipay card transactions grew by 7% with more than 100 000 cards issued in 2015.

As regards to the other festivals

  • At Volt Festival, the number of contactless bank card payments increased by 91% representing more than 65 000 transactions while Festipay cards transactions reached almost 400 000.
  • At the Balaton Sound Festival the contactless bank card transactions grew by + 133%, reaching 40 000 out of 600 000, the rest being realized with Festipay cards.

According to the latest official statistics, in Hungary, 44% of the total number of issued bank cards are with contactless technology.
